I'd check to see how much you can turn the driveshaft before a wheel moves.
My old pick up had an open 9" rear that clunked and I found the driveshaft
would move almost a quarter turn to take up the slack of the worn rear gears.
A junkyard rear cured the problem. May the differential Gods be with
