All I know is that, no surprise, places that sell load resistors (also known as equalizers) recommend using them.

I looked at the site of a Mopar guy who does lighting but did not see load resistors. Maybe I missed them.
You could email him and ask if he sells them and if they are needed. Dan Stern is his name.
