Speaking as someone who was very heavy into 1st & 2nd generation 
Barracudas in a former life Neal, yes if it's an original 383-S it would 
be rare. The vin should be BP29H7 (H being the 383HP) Is the 68 also an 
original 340-S? That vin would be BP29P8. I once owned a 69 340-S 
convertible that was one of 83 made. I don't have any production figures 
for 67 but the production estimates for the 68 Formula S fastbacks are 
948 383's and 2,874 340's. I believe you're right and Mopar didn't start 
stamping vin codes on engine blocks until 1968. Does that Newport engine 
has a 67 build date that's earlier than the build date of the Barracuda? 
Of course being a Newport it's a 2 bbl so you'd have to add all the 383 
HP stuff. The hardest thing to find is going to be the A body big block 
LH exhaust manifold. It's hard to say what they're worth but like 
everthing else Mopar these days A body prices are skyrocketing too. I'd 
say it's a steal if these are solid cars. Make sure you check 
underneath, these A bodys are real prone to sub frame rustout.

BTW Where are you putting all these cars? I'm thinking of starting a new 
organization called Moparaholics Anynomus for people who have the same 
sickness I do. I think you qualify. LOL
