If your tight on space, find a 7 blade fan and mount it solid with a spacer.

I am like Don with the expense vs HP thing and fans. Simple and inexpensive 
is good. Electric fans are great, but so what, you might loose 10HP running 
a solid fan. For the cost of the electric fan an shroud, you could buy a
good 
carb spacer and pick up the 10HP, and not have to worry about another system

that could fail. Just my two cents. Keep It Simple Baby...

Yes, I've given that some thought.  I like clutch fans, but I've only got
3.5" between my water pump and the radiator core.  I've tried a couple
clutch fans, but they're not even close.  So, I figured it was either flex
or solid, or electric.
