383 HP I.D. help

Hello.  Can anyone I.D. these two 383 blocks I found?

On the front, below the distributor, from top to bottom is stamped:

D383, 482, HP  (casting date of 6/13/68)

and

D383, 712, HP  (casting date of 2/29/68)

I'm puzzled most by the "482" and "712"
