Marcus is working with a big block motor, Gary, not a Poly. Are you saying
to use the poly 318 converter with a big block?

Yes. You can have a higher stall through the fin adjustment; usually you
can get around 2500stall which is where you want to be for a street/strip
Poly with a 264 cam; just enough to build off the line torque.
