The exhaust pipe flanges are usually no more than 3/16" or 1/4", even 
thinner for other styles. What's important though is that the studs/bolts on 
the manifold be long enough to line everything up and hold it in place with 
one hand while easily putting the nut on with another. I would get hardware 
so that you have at least 1.5" after the manifold flange.
