did you see any oil in the coolant that you drained out?
just trying to be optimistic here,
I'm thinking maybe the header bolt or stud was leaking a
little coolant and mixing with dirt and oil on the outside of the
engine?
in which case, just put some thread sealer on it and reinstall.
all the lower exhaust bolts are actually studs (in stock form) that
screw down into the
water jackets. not sure what type of fasteners TTI gives you for the
lower ones?
plus you'll still have some coolant in the block so have a pan handy.

I've drained the oil and coolant now and am in the process of
removing the
TTI headers ( what a PITA on this car - a few of the bolts are
*really* hard
to get at )
Seems that oil showing up in the water jacket can be either blown head
gasket or cracked head ... anything else come to mind?
