watch ebay and craigslist nationally.
very common to move them out of the surrounding areas and sell things off way outside a given region where people may tend to watch.

I just got a 4L80E tranny out of a wrecked delivery van for 25 bucks!!! Let the detectives question the guys there...you will be surprised I bet.
