"Best" -- it depends. Performance Mopars had 3/8 fuel line/pickup. The 5/16 possibly could lead to fuel starvation at high rpm. Anyway, with a 1/2-inch fuel line you can be assured of fuel supply, even if you later decide to add a blower, nitrous kit,or whatever hi-po mods.
Maybe show a picture of the wiring "grey areas" and maybe light up some memories in someone here.
