I used to adjust the solid lifters on an a Dart with a /6 I had with the engine running until I heard enough people questioning the precision. Yeah, it can be done... really kind of a lost art. Fingers do take a beating! Rubber wrench is a great idea! lol

Lol!! Yes I've also done that!!! Hehehe. Sorry but after myself doing the same thing I can laugh about it ( now that my fingers all work again)! The lifters work best with 20-30 thousandths of preload as others have mentioned how you determine that is open to debAte but I have every confidence in you Rich!! Keep us posted

I have tried on several occasions to adjust valves with the engine running. This did not work at all for me. The mess was secondary to the beating my fingers took trying to catch the adjusters as they flew by. I don't know how it's possible to do. You'd need a rubber wrench at least.
