Larry, I just wanted to add to the thread that when you buy your adapter, be sure it is the 4 hole type and doesn't have just a large square center hole.  This might have already been obvious to you, but I tripped over it in the past and have a veritable junkyard of expensive spacers / adapters among my garage clutter as a result of this lessons-learned.

I think I have an intake "modifier" to change the bolt pattern (can't find it right now, but isn't that the way it always is) but wonder what the original 4bbl was for an early Poly with the 4.5x5.5 stud pattern?
