The Rocker Molding.....That's what I've always called it and heard it called. I wouldn't take a mallet to any trim, it looks like its the kind that just snaps in place like the side trim on my car. I twist and press the bottom side of the trim on to the clip and with my thumb press the other side on to the other side of the clip. If it pops off again either the clip is bad of the trim is warped a bit. It's not a lot of pressure to hold that stuff on, that's why I don't use a mallet of any kind.
