Have enjoyed reading the comments on distributor install, yes I have done the 180 dance numerous times. Today I use a simple TDC whistle on #1 from harbor freight. I bump the motor till the whistle stops and I now know I am in the ballpark, pop the cap and rewire the the plug wires to match the rotor, I don't necessarily care where the rotor points except for plug wire length. All i want to do is get the motor fired/ broke in. If you are reading the FSM it shows how to orient the distributor drive when at TDC firing and you can do that but to me it has not been a priority. Hope this helps.
