Bill,
I think the reason for that is, the coil is oil filled. The distribution
of the
oil helps with the cooling. If it is laid on its side, then the cooling
effect
of the oil does not work right. I would not mount it on the intake
anyway.
Too much heat. Don't worry about drilling a couple of holes in the inner
fender, heck your not going to live that much longer, you better get
that thing on the road.

Speaking of Blaster 2 coils, I'm going to be using one with my MSD
ignition
system. It says in the paper work with it that it should be mounted in
the
upright position. Has anyone used one and mounted it lying down in the
stock type
position without any problems?
I'd like to mount it on the intake manifold and not have to drill holes
in
the inner fender.
