  I did not think that a thermostat would keep your engine from getting
hot. I know that the thermostat opens full flow at the marked
temperature, no matter what it is. It guarantees your engine will get up
to "that" temp.  A seven blade fan will pull more air through the
radiator, at the slower speeds. There is such a thing as moving too much
water through the block as well, but that would be the pump, and not the
fan. Antifreeze will raise the boiling point of water, and a good
pressure cap will too. Overfilling the radiator will cause boil over, and
counteract the effect of the pressure cap's duties to allow for
expansion. There is also an additive called "wetter water" that helps
water to absorb more heat from the metal surfaces.  FWIW  Tom
