Tom -don't kick your self that way ... I am in agreement, lower gears may
get you off the line quicker but they kill top end.
( aka nascar- Talladega  800 HP -1.6-1.86-1 rear ratio's gets - 190 mph @
4.5 mpg..BUT IT TAKE THEM 2-3 MILES TO GET UP THERE_)

The Short shaft 3/4 ton truck trans does have a lower gear planetary. But
the one you have is a very strong very dependable piece.

ANDY -ANDY--Put the car in running order with what you have -FIRST - then
tweak it, later when you break something...
IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX-IT

Unless you have very deep pockets, then take it to someone like Big Don and
tell him what you want the end result to be. or send him a private message
with a consulting fee and ask him to list what is needed to get the results
you want..
