Kevin,
The freeze plugs you need for the Poly 318 are 1 5/8" brass dish type plugs;
Dorman #560-023. The LA 318/340 cup style will seem to press into the block
but will soon blow out - do not use LA freeze plugs for the Poly motor.
Tap them in with a very small amount of ultra copper or hi-tack sealant
around the edge. You will tap along the circumference of the plug and when
it is seated give it a firm whack in the center to press it securely into
the sleeve of the block. You can even "pin" the plugs if you like. Don't
make the mistake of hammering on the center first as the plug turns convex
and falls out.

Take care,
Gary Pavlovich

Hi,

Is there a trick to getting the frost plugs installed?

What about the plug at the back of the cam shaft? It is a shallow dish.
 Are there special tools or does a person just beat on them carefully?

btw, it is for my 64 Poly.

Thanks.
