I talked to the tech folks at Edelbrock and they told me the jets,
metering rods, etc. from their carbs will fit the Carters. The problem
is that Carters are calibrated differently and Edelbrock has no way to
cross reference the two. They gave me a number to call, and it was
Federal Mogul. They referred me to a very helpful tech service man
named Jim. He had the old Carter books and gave me the info on the jets
and step-up rods currently in my carbs. He also gave me the numbers and
specs for recalibrating them, as I requested. The bummer is that they
carry no parts for them. Edelbrock doesn't have any metering rods close
to the Carter specs in their Owner's Manual that lists all the 4 barrel
carbs they sell (500 -750 cfm).
Can anyone tell me where I can purchase Carter step-up rods and primary
metering jets? Right now I'm specifically looking for 4 step-up rods
#16-388 (073 cruise & 060 power). Thanks in advance for any help you
can provide....Brian
