I got into the A-100's and the D-100's real big about a year or two ago. How would you set up a four speed in a A-100 truck that has the engine sitting beside you? The shifter would have to be in front of you and about 6 feet in front of the transmission. I sold one of the D-100's that was set up from the factory about like the one you described except it was automatic. It did have the factory 8000 rpm tach (426 street wedge used the 8000 rpm tach and the small blocks used a 7000 rpm.The tach box was under the hood) It did have factory traction type bars and factory dual exhaust, but no tubs. It was called a CSS Custom Sport Special. Very rare. The 426 truck was only made in 65 or 66. Keep us posted on what you find out. A little background might help on this one. A friend of mine is helping me finish putting together my '62 Savoy. He is a mechanic and car restorer by trade. He has been approached about an A-100 Dodge truck in order to put it back together. This is where it gets interesting. The truck is supposedly one of a few of these type of trucks. Here are the options: 426 wedge, 4-speed, factory traction bars, factory tub, factory tach and factory power steering. This vehicle was initially a factory drag truck and sold to the late Ron Slobe of R&R Salvage fame. The vehicle stayed in his possession until a local doctor purchased this vehicle. At the time of purchase, Galen Govier supposedly made a trip down to authenticate the truck. There are supposed to be some extra fender and door tags for this truck. My questions are endless, but I will limit it to a few for now. I will be seeing the vehicle this week and would like to know what to look for. Tags - what do I look for specifically? Motor - numbers -where they are located and what will they tell me. Another rumor about this type of vehicle, is that there is one in a museum that is untouched and all original. Any leads on this one? Any other information on these trucks is always appreciated. Thanks! - Buck '62 Savoy _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
