Hi
     I'd go back and double check the mods done to the valve body, it
sounded as though more than one element was applying when you shifted to
direct.
When you drill holes and cut passages out of a valve body you need to know
where you are.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have kickdown linkage as I have a
manual valve body which doesn't require one. I have to shift it  manually.
