I've looked at permatex, chesterton and some pipe sealants and aerobics.
I'm in the trades.
My thinking (twisted as it may be) is the stud into the head should have a
hardening sealant.
The end with the manifold (or wicked pissa tti poly headers) on it should be
non-hardening.
The only time the headers might come off is to warm the engine up some more!
What about heating the head with a torch like you used to have to with a
sectional boiler?
The expansion would allow for a tighter fit once cooled.
To anal? 	Anyone? 	Buehler?

Just torque it in with locknuts and stop thinking about it you idiot?

I've had good luck with Permatex #2 Form A Gasket.  It's a non-hardening
sealant...Brian
