If you have a good right-angle buffer, NOT one of those $39 Wal-Mart
orbitals, use something like 3M Micro Finishing Compound or Machine
Glaze. That's what I user to buff out fresh paint after wet sanding, or
to polish oxidized paint. It works very well, but be sure to wax it
afterwards. The shine will probably only last a few weeks if the paint
is that far gone. Also, the compound is expensive...I paid $26 for the
last quart bottle, but it goes a long way, too. Paid $50 for my no-name
buffer, but I use the hell out of it all the time, especially to buff
out all the little scratches I get daily on my black Dakota R/T. This is
cheap compared to a professional buff job, which runs $100 and up. Plus,
you have the materials to do it yourself quite a few times. If you want
to justify the cost to your wife, buff HER car out once!
