The right way to check it out is to temporarily replace the oil pressure 
sending unit with a mechanical gauge and see what is really happening.  If 
it has good oil pressure going down the road and idles hot with reasonable 
pressure your problem is electrical with either a bad sending unit (the easy 
problem) or the gauge wire is probably shorting to ground somewhere.
