Your filler neck is located near the top of the tank, right? No gasoline will expand from the heat of the day, to a point where it will pass through the cap. You may hear a little gas pass when you loosen the cap at fill-up, but most times, that pressure gets used up when running. Your non vented cap may starve the carb, like a clogged filter would, eventually.
