With the radiator & fan removed, it appears I have about 8-10" clearance in front. My question is, is this the better way to go, or is it better to leave the trannie hooked to the engine and pull them both out? I guess I can't visualize how to remove the engine/trannie together, seems you'd really have to "stand them up" (rotate front up almost 90 degrees) to get them out, can this be done with a couple of guys and a cherry picker? Thanks again! Wade I have taken the engine and tranny out as a unit several times. Its not that hard but you need lots of clearence. The car will have to be way up in the air and you will need a very long throw on the cherry picker. I think its actually easier than unbolting the motor and trans. You could drop the oil pan and loosen up the main caps and see if that doesnt free the motor up. Also i would loosen up as many rod bolts as you can.
