Joe;

The filter is brand new, I changed it myself and the clamps are tight, as is
the pump and carb connections.
The other day, Friday to be exact, I put a hemostat on the inlet hose to
clamp it off for the night.
Anyone remember hemostats? Wink!
Saturday morning, the filter was full, removed the clamp and she ran like
the beauty she is. I've ordered a new fuel pump, no real hurry because all
I do is rev her a little until the filter is filled at startup, and she's
going into warm storage for the winter, lucky girl.
There are checks that will open, mostly medical gas types, I'm a
sprinklerfitter and a plumber. I appreciate the post. I'm not sure I'm
going to keep the 273 3 speed that's in her though. Shifting in the city is
bumming me out and that 273 is tired. I want to take the 361 and 727 I had
rebuilt last winter for the 4 door and change her to a column shift auto, I
have the entire car they came from with the 3.23 rear and Pat Blais (WA)
made me up a nice SG rear for her this past spring. All I need is help.
The 361 dyno'd at 333 HP at the flywheel with a smooth 750 RPM idle so I
think that's what I'm going to do. Besides, the engine is next to the
washing machine in the basement now and the tranny is under the stairs. I
look at them and just go ARRRGGHH. Ya, that's what I'm going to do.
Good night gentlemen.
Happy Halloween.
Back to work tomorrow.

Tom Duross

Tom, I don't think they make a check valve that will pull open @ 3-5 lbs.
Try it without the filter and see if the problem goes away. Could the
filter
let air in but not let fuel out? Good luck... Joe
