A 360 is a great motor, You would need some 10.to 1 pistons and I think the hypereutectics from KB etc would get you pretrty close. A good cam (yes I would use the Racer brown St-H 42 but a Comp Cams extreme energy (both cams are hydraulic)would be a reasonalbe substitute although it would be hard to out do the Racer grind. (it is a very unusual camshaft) 340 chain and gears for timing stuff. Edelbrock Performer RPM with at least an 750 holley type carb. X or J heads with 202 intakes and pocket ported. ccd to make sure your getting the compression you need. gasket matched. Good dist rework (new MP ones are great and adjustable. ) A REAL good converter from Frank Lupo as per whatever he says. 456 gears with 29.5 goodyear slicks and a good set of headers. (I have a friend with a set of good fenderwells for that car thathe wants to sell (cause he is a chevy guy) Car would be very very quick, very inexpensive and very reliable. It would take probalby a year after your first pass to wipe the smile from your face. A alternate cam shaft choice would be one of the old Cheater Stocker grinds (I would use a 71 340 cheater stocker.) These used to be readily available. Lunati, Comp cams etc still could grind you one up. Car would run mid elevens to high tens if you beat on it enough. Suspension would be the traditional Early MP superstock style. MP SS Springs , pinion snubber . long shocks . worn out front shocks or 90/10s with 6 cly torsion bars. Power would be more than most would believe. Full groove main bearings and a hivolume pump with a real good pan would be a must.
