Hi
Get a good VOM (Volt ohm meter) digital or other (analogue) check
out resistances to rear of car from main connector behind drivers side kick
panel. Disconnect main connector at steering column and check signal switch
according to wiring diagram , flasher is OK if it works for one , its only a
bimetal element that opens a circuit , and the electronic ones do the same
(opens the circuit at specific intervals due to bulb load) . ensure all
wiring and grounds especially are OK , ensure all connectors are clean and
no wiring has been switched (colour to colour) . The above checks take less
than an hour and are worth it, don't guess be sure of what you have. The
electrical system on these cars are very simple and should not offer the
slightest difficulty when armed with a meter and the diagram.

Subject: Electrical Problem

Hi,

I have an electrical problem that I have not yet been able to sort out.

The symptoms are as follows:

Brake lights on right rear do not work.
Turn signal lights at right rear do not work.
Turn signal flasher does not make any noise for right turn.
Right signal indicator on steady.
Left signal indicator flashes as expected.
Left signal lights and turn signals work fine.
All running lights and back up lights work fine.

I have studied the electrical diagrams and figure that the problem may
be the turn signal switch.

Is this true and if so how do I check it with out pulling it?

Please advise.

Signed "frustrated in Thunder Bay".

K.
