That's a cool wagon and nice pictures. check for water leakage under the carpets. Had to peel the carpet off
the floors of my wagon before it rusted through. still can,t figure out how the water keeps trickling in from the
sides under the kick panels and sill plates? probably need some seam sealer, I've put new weather stripping in and
checked the wiper pivots for leakage too.

On the rear quarters I cut or ground out the cancer and pop riveted in some sheet metal, since I don't know how to
weld, and bondoed, sand and paint.

wagon stuff is a little tougher to find but keep searching the net, ebay, swap-meets etc... it's out there.

good luck

Hi,

I just joined the list, after buying a '62 Chrysler Newport wagon last week. Originally I thought it would just be a good winter "beater" that would satisfy my need for a running, driving "Astradome" car, but it's in too good a shape, outside of the body, not to restore. Here are some photos:

As far as I can tell, it looks like the exterior color is "Coral Gray", but I'm not sure what the interior color is called. Does anyone on the list have a '62 upholstery book, or happen to know what color that is?

The seats are all in perfect shape, except of course for the driver's seat. I need to get some of the vinyl, as well as the "basket weave" insert vinyl, and recover the front seat. Does anyone know of any sources for '62 material besides SMS? Or are they the only game in town?

I'd also appreciate any tips you might have for parts sources for these wagons. Is anyone reproducing the wagon taillight lenses? Are rear quarter patch panels available? (Or can anyone recommend a junkyard source?)

So far I'm having a ball driving the '62, and my wife and six sons love it, too. We just went out for lunch today with some friends and actually had 13 people in it (mostly kids) *comfortably*! 3 in the front, 4 in the rear, 2 between the 2nd and 3rd seats (lots of hidden room there!), and 4 little kids in the back.... ;-)

Thanks for any and all help!
