I'm going way out on a limb here, but I believe the PRODUCTION offer of seat belts was the 56' Ford..(deep dish steering wheels, etc....safety is number one advertisiing, etc.)...Further, (and this is probably wrong) I believe that mopar offered the belts as options as early as 57/58...
There may have been early "optional" belts...but you'd have to be REALLY older than me to remember them...

My grandson (age 6) asked me a couple of days ago what year did they start putting seat belts in cars? I couldn't answer that nor could I answer the next question: "Did they put them in Mopars first?" Can you help me out?
