Grounding the cabinet to the outlet box will not solve the static issue 
unless the metal spraygun is grounded to the cabinet.  The purpose of 
grounding the cabinet to an outlet box is to prevent A/C shock from the 110V 
house current.  That is for sure more dangerous than the static electrical 
shock hazard but that will not be solved until the gun is grounded to the 
cabinet.
