On the chance that mine don't come out clean as easily as yours did, does anyone see any problem with knocking surface rust off with a wire brush wheel on a bench grinder or similar tool?

My leaf springs didn't seem to mind.

Hi,

I cleaned mine with only a parts washer and a brush. The bars were an
olive drab green when I was finished cleaning them and they had light
blue paint dabs on them (two on one and one on the other) I did not
have the heart to paint them. They were not rusty at all.

Once you clean yours up you may not want to paint them either.

Be careful and don't scratch them. Since they are spring steel any
gouge could cause a weak spot.

Regards,

K.

torsion bars during the front end rebuild? Wire brush them clean and
paint them with a rattle can?
