Re: removing trim 65 coronet 500

I figured it out!!   I took a  pry bar with a handle and a crook on the end, and just hooking the lower  stainless edge lip, I slowly and carefully walked it off, no damage. Front and rear window chromes came off pretty easily, using a inch wide stiff putty knife. I found the clips, and pulled them back and took another stiff knife and brought it up and out of the trough.  Best news of all is, NO ROT!!

Speaking of Ytube, here's one A-body Mopar guy's technique:

The bottle opener wrapped in electrical tape trick is, as the video guy noted, often a way to tear the stainless.

You may want to use a modified wooden paint stick instead of the metal scraper he used and also spray some lubricating oil to help reduce the tension holding the trim pieces on.

Why the factory used those clips may become clearer as you remove the stainless. They had some reason! :)

Thanks,
Gary H.

P.S. I don't know about 65 windshield trim. Does the Factory Service  Manual talk have anything on that?

Also, I know a guy with a '65 Dodge. I'll ask him if he has any tips.
