I used one of those units that's supposed to sit on the hump.  It's been awhile but i think I modified it a little and them mounted it to the front of the console by removing the ash tray and securing it with a machine screw into a t-nut set in a thin piece of wood that is a bit wider than the ash tray opening.  So nothing is destroyed and it can be removed in a few minutes.
