Well, I would replace the steering column switch as well as the starter (especially if it was making noise or the protecting plate has been missing, sometimes they just fall off.), just to be on the safe side. You don't want to burn a new harness the first time you try to start the car. Also, i would add some plugs right after the starter to avoid it from frying teh harness again. This works well, a new 70s car just had a plug with a clip halfway between the starter and the harness, and one day it shorted out, when to the plug, the plug melted and stopped the short. As far as the rest of teh car, your dash insert should be fine as well as your alternator. Tail lights and wires are probably ok too. Just replace everything under dash that burned and forward, its pretty simple when you have a harness because everyhting is kept in order, but sometimes it can be time consuming when your using a harness out of a donor car because there are things that need to be cleaned and fixed. Its an easy weekend project, no biggy. I'm not sure where to get a new one, I think my father said you could get one from MSD that is set up for MSD already as well as stock use. I'll look into it a little more.
