Ben, Go talk to the guy, you can always work under him as an apprentice. Would give you good skills, knowledge that will always be useful, and could be a lot of fun.  



 By the way, there is a local custom body shop guy in my town that is running the shop all by his self and may need a hand. How do you guys think a 17 year old kid that has an obsession with cars would stand up for the job?
