I worked in a trans shop for years and we never used any type of sealer on our pan gaskets at all. Make sure your bolt holes are flat and don't over-tighten the bolts when installing it. On a few occasions, I have used Permatex Hi-Tac spray on the pan and the side of the gasket that contacts the pan, but never on the side that contacts the trans case.

Be gentle,

Mark Kennedy

changing the vital fluids today in the Coronet, dropped the trans pan
and the pan floor looks great, no shavings at all, maybe the guy wasnt
lying about rebuilding it all 20-30k ago, fluid doesnt stink either.
Anyway my question is when u do a trans pan drop and gasket/filter
change should u install the gasket dry or with a sealer of some sort
and if so, what type of sealer
