ahh, i love u guys and u guys are absolutely right. I figured this all out standing in a rainy junkyard this afternoon with a timing " tab" in my hand, EUREKA! See my whole deal was I was remembring when i had my 340 in my 71 cuda and what that timing case looked like, with an actual "cast -in" set of marks on a raised area of the case. i was expecting the same on the passenger side of my case, i didnt realize they used a tab on those early motors . So i found the tab on a 67 318 today , it all became clear and then I attained enlightenment standing in the rain.
