I have not done a back to back comparison but I have used schumachers on a 383 i built for a customer which had more cam than manifolds would allow. It is in a 69 Dart 383 car and is very strong to say the least for a streetable well mannered engine. I would use them more except i have one small bone to pick with them. They are only made with 1.5/8 primaries . If they were with 1 7/8 primaries and the next step also up one i would use them on everything streetable but i cant bring myself to building a motor with a set of 1.81 ex valves or even 1.88 and then put on a set of 1 5/8 (i.625) primaries. (Yes I already told them so) so for now I use them on 383s with stock ex valve sizes.
When you get to a certain point with cams the factory manifolds do not provide enough cly to cly isolation even though they are quite good and at that point we go to headers , otherwise we dont use the bigger cam. I make the change, just in general terms, when I cross the 500 lift threshhold although in fact the problem has more to do with duration and overlap. Still, that general rules works ok.
Oh yeah there is a casting ear on the block (noncritical that must be ground of to use them but the fit wonderfully.
