I put 8" rims with Mickey Thompson 10" ET street tires on my 64 Sport Fury.  
I used a 5" backspace, (don't go with that though as it hit the springs and 
had  to use a 1/2" spacer to move it out), so use a 4 1/2" backspace. It's close 
but  will fit without moving the springs. I can just get my finger between 
the tire  and inside of the quarter panel.
