I am in no way an expert...and probably should be quiet...BUT !
It is worth what some one will pay for it(what a dumb thing to say !)...I
checked all over the country for 6 years trying to find a '63 with the specs
I wanted...when I found it I had to pay way more than any book said to get
it.
In my defense...it was totally restorable...the numbers were right for the
things that mattered...and the mechanics were operable (top, etc.)
In my search to find the stuff needed to put it back to original I have
found the market is HIGHER for the "as produced and nice" rather than the
modified "haul a--"...the exception being factory produced "haul a--" (as in
Max wedge and hemi original).
That is why the original motor and trans (318/727) are in storage and the
426 wedge effort is in the car. I can always get back to factory...as I
enjoy the "buzz". Interestingly enough, I also have found that people
"expect" the well preserved or restored to be expensive...and the market is
found in the folks that appreciate (and can afford) the "nostalgia" side of
this.
I also know that after spending "what it takes" to get it right (with the
right stuff) there is no way in hell I'll ever come close to getting my
money back if I sell...so the car is considered an "heirloom" by my kids and
treated by all as if it is priceless...even when I drive the heck out of it.
If you must or want to sell... take the car to where people that want it
are...not necessarily Barrett-Jackson, but shows, parades, reunions, etc. I
had 2 people inquire and one make an offer while waiting to be in a parade
last month...totally unsolicited.... like land..."they ain't making any more
of it !"

I am thinking of selling my '64 Fury convertible and don't know where to
start. It was restored in about 1990, judging from the date code on the
roof. It
has a new floor and quite a bit of new metal, but it is developing a few
small
rust spots. Car is unmodified and the only thing not original is the
interior.
It was replaced with new vinyl, but I think it was before Year One was in
business. So, the interior pattern is not quite correct. Marron/red, black
interior, white roof. 318, push button, bench seat.
"Value Guides" indicate an "older restoration" at about $8500.00. Does a
start of $7500.00 seem fair? I have never seen another '64 convert, but,
this is
the Northeast.
