If you increase the bore size from 4.000" to 4.030", for example, the pistons must also be increased in diameter by 0.030" or the pistons/rings will be too small to rub against the cylinder walls. When pistons/rings do not rub against the cylinder wall, you have no compression. If you buy 4.030" pistons and do not bore the cylinders out by .030", the pistons/rings will be too big to fit the cylinder.
