Joe,
Colder the better. You will probably find that w/converted AC unit the
trans will run about 150deg. when cool and around 160deg. at normal driving
range. It will climb when racing or hot-rodding to about 180-190 and drop
like a rock in temp when you hit the pits or drive normal. I do have a
chart relating engine temp and tranny life if you are interested.

I'm also using a 66 Imp condenser for a tranny cooler. Got the idea from
