Jim,you can get a Dakota R/T fairly cheap now.The R/T is a factory 2wd 360 with
5 speed auto and a 3.92 -9 1/4 sure grip.They were made between 1998 and 03.I
have an 02 R/T and its great. With a little tweaking they will run in the 13s no problem.
Here's a link to our R/T.

Guys,

Apologies for the off-topic question, but I figured this place would be
a good source for info ...

My 15 year old is getting the itch for wheels, and we are starting to
talk about the "first car." My thoughts are, to keep the 10w30 running
in the family bloodline, that I would find an older Dakota for him ...
and drop a 360 in it so we can horse around with the performance.
(Seems to me you can find one of these for cheap, cheap, cheap.)

Any thoughts on this? Do I need to find a factory V8 Dakota, or will it
be relatively simple to convert an original V6. I am guessing that a
factory 4 cylinder would be a bad choice, given the lighter suspension,
brakes, etc.

You might want to reply offline, given this is an off topic inquiry ...

Thanks,
