I have a 70 B-body console pistol grip shifter in my 64 Polara with
console, but the handle is a little long and hits the front edge of the
driver's bucket. The handle is a homemade piece out of cast stainless,
so cutting it up to fit better wouldn't be a big deal. I would like to
know 3 things: If anyone else has a pistol grip in a 64 or 65 B-body
with console, which model do you have? Second, can one of the many
welders on the list tell me if it's possible to cut a cast stainless
handle in half and butt weld it back together strongly? Third, has
anyone drilled holes in their shifter arms to shorten the shift throw,
such as to clear the dash or console? Thanks
