Tom,

Don't kill or modify that sending unit. If it is a new 
sending unit for a D-100 truck, I will buy you any type of 
unit you want if you will give me that unit. They are hard 
to find, and I need one badly. So name your game, and have 
it done the way you want it, send me the bill and the D-100 
sending unit please...............................

 Doug,  As an idea, find another sending unit base plate, and run a 3/8"
line through it, with a pick up sock on the end. You can put a 90 degree
bend at the bottom, to lay flat on the tank bottom. Won't change the tank
any, and you can install a sending unit at a later date.  Since you don't
want to modify the sending unit now.
