It will just explode. If it's laminated it can be cut. Check the edge of the glass. If you can see a line where the plastic is in between the glass it's laminated. If there's no line it's tempered. The reason they're able to cut down windshields with the method you mentioned is because windshields are always laminated glsss. If you make a pattern any glasss shop can cut you a window out of laminated glass as long as it's flat.
