The vibration shows up going down the road at highway speeds. I also have a different driveshaft in now, so I don't think it's that. It almost seems like a tire out of balance, but like I said, 3 different sets of wheels have been on the car. I've also repacked the front bearings and they're adjusted up snug. If you push the cluth in going down the road it subsides a little. That also tells me it's someting in the motor. I had the flywheel turned and put a new clutch in when I put it together and the flywheel would only go on 1 way as I recall.

An imbalanced flywheel would cause more than a little vibration. Also, I

seem to recall the bolt pattern for cast cranks being offset to make sure the imbalance is put in the right place. This would make it increasingly

difficult (but not impossible) for you to have mismatched components.
Are you sure you don't have a miss? Driveshaft out of balance? Under what circumstances do you notice the vibration?

Good point Dave...no, the flywheel came from a swap meet, so what car
did it come from? ha ha, just kidding. I installed it 2 years ago not
even thinking if it would work ok. It works, but like I said, there's a
little vibration. Since the tranny and rear end have been swapped and
the vibration is still there, I'm guessing it's in the motor. I have
also had 3 different sets of wheels/tires on it. The motor is coming out
this winter though, for a fresh 426 as soon as I get it built, so I'll
check the flywheel then. Thanks for the info.

Steel. I don't think cast crank big blocks showed up until the late
60's/early 70's. But your flywheel didn't come from a '65 Imperial,
since
they were all automatics.

OK, so would a 65 413 from an Imperial have a cast or steel crank?

Any steel crank engine would have come with a zero balance flywheel.
Cast
crank motors would have come with imbalanced flywheels.

I'm sure this has been answered here before, but are any RB flywheels
balanced any years? I have a vibration in my 413 and I thought maybe I
have the wrong flywheel...65 413 with 66-67 A833.
