NO. The consoles are the same. They all have a cutout on the left side for the manual shift tunnel. On consoles intalled in automatic cars, this cutout is covered with a metal plate and the carpeting covers that. In a manual shift car, a fiberglass hump mounts to the same place as the plate, and the carpet covers all that.
When you went for a ride in my Polara, that was the original automatic console with the automatic top plate removed, the side cover removed, the automatic carpet cut to fit the floor tunnel, and the carpet covered fibergalss piece attached. (And the C-body consoles are the same as the B-body consoles, except for the 300L, which had a big emblem on the top and the Monaco, which had a full length console that ran all the way to the rear seat.

So there were 2 different consoles with different shapes to fit the two
different transmission humps?
